Understanding Feeds:

The acronym "RSS" is now commonly used to mean "Rich Site Summary" and describes a family of languages originally used by web programmers to share information between web servers. The original use of the acronym was in reference to a particular syndication format, and stood for "Really Simple Syndication". This language, RSS, is still one of the most commonly formats for web syndication.
